The Department of Health Administration and Education at the University of Education, Winneba, celebrated its 10th anniversary with a week-long series of events from 19th to 25th June 2023. The celebration aimed to commemorate a decade of excellence in healthcare education and administration, as well as fostering camaraderie among students, faculty, and alumni. The anniversary events were diverse and engaging, including educational seminars, health-related activities, sports competitions, and social gatherings.

Monday: Health Walk and Donations to Winneba Local Prison
The week kicked off with a Health Walk, where students, staff, and alumni participated in a collective effort to promote physical activity and well-being. The walk was followed by a charitable gesture, with the department making donations to the Winneba Local Prison, showcasing their commitment to social responsibility and community outreach.

Tuesday: Seminar and Inter-level Debate
An educational seminar and inter-level debate were held, inviting two distinguished alumni and a guest speaker, Mr. Jeremiah Buabeng, an accomplished entrepreneur and speaker. The seminar provided a platform for insightful discussions on various health administration and education topics, offering valuable knowledge and perspectives to the participants.

Wednesday: Screening (Eye, Blood Pressure & Sugar Level Check)
Sina Eye Clinic partnered with the department to conduct screenings for eye health, blood pressure, and sugar levels. The initiative emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups and early detection of potential health issues, thus promoting a culture of proactive healthcare management.

Thursday: Climax of Event
The pinnacle of the anniversary celebration took place on Thursday. Dignitaries such as The Director of Health Administration and Support Services, Ghana Health Service, along with his deputy, and the representative of the Pro Vice-Chancellor who chaired the occasion. Also present were the representative of the Vice-Chancellor, in the person of Prof. Jonathan Ammah Mensah, the Dean of the Science Faculty, Heads of Departments, and other esteemed guests who graced the event with their presence. This grand ceremony recognized the department’s achievements over the past ten years and highlighted its vision for the future.

Friday: Sporting Activities (Games)
The celebration also featured a day of sporting activities, where students from the Health Administration and Education Students Association of UEW engaged in friendly competitions with the Public Administration and Health Support Services Students Association of the University of Ghana. The Health Administration and Education Students Association of UEW emerged victorious in all contests, showcasing their sporting prowess and teamwork.

Saturday: Dinner Night & Entertainment Session
Saturday evening brought a delightful atmosphere with the Dinner Night and Entertainment Session held at Kings and Queens Bar. The participants enjoyed a relaxed and joyful evening of entertainment, bonding, and celebrating their shared accomplishments in the field of health administration and education.

Sunday: Thanksgiving Service
The week-long celebration concluded with a heartfelt Thanksgiving Service held at the Methodist Church in Winneba. This spiritual gathering offered an opportunity for attendees to express their gratitude and appreciation for the successes, growth, and positive impact the department has achieved throughout the ten-year journey.
